day 392 | august 11, 2010 | of gal pals and horse rides

attended one of roo's favorite girlfriend's birthday party, and for several days before the party, roo could not stop asking me every morning if it's her friend's birthday yet. and every negative response i gave her earned me a despondent sigh. once the day finally came, she was like live wire, all bouncy and easily excitable. her other favorite girl friend was in attendance, so she was bouncing all over the place independently as i nibbled and took snapshots in my lazy preggy manner. some days, i wish i could plug into her, and borrow some of her energy. or perhaps, steal some AAs from her internal battery pack. =)

day 389 | august 7, 2010 | belle and sebastian

indulging my fan girl tendencies. belle and sebastian performed at the concert hall in esplanade, in the presence of 1,800++ fans. despite the size of the hall, the crew managed to keep the feel cozy and intimate. always loved b&s quieter songs which have a very hippy nostalgic feel. when it came to upbeat songs like the popular favorite 'boy with the arab strap', i was pleasantly surprised to see fellow fans standing up and grooving along with the music. the last concert i went to in singapore, everyone was sitting stock still despite the upbeat tunes.

lined up to get my CD signed by the whole crew, and managed to get a shot in with stuart and stevie. girly giggle. even managed to get a shot of the set list, which one fan swiped from a very willing stage crew after the show.  =)

photography was not allowed, but everyone else was shooting the band with their off-camera flash on, it felt ridiculous to restrain my itchy fingers. at least, i shot without using flash. =)

"...and everyone she knew thought she was beautiful, only slightly mental. beautiful, only temperamental..."

day 388 | august 1, 2010 | mangoRED high

finally meeting ryan and randall dagooc of mangoRED reminds me of how i felt when my dad allowed me my first taste of beer at 5 years old. it was decadently naughty, but surprisingly, somehow permissible. intrinsically, you knew you were bending some conventions as you did it, and as you ran around the house mildly buzzed, you felt like you were seeing the world with new kaleidoscope eyes. i was so ecstatic about it that hubby got mildly jealous as i was packing up for this trip.  =)

day 386 | july 18, 2010 | organic roo and red - an alternative family shoot

clients have been approaching me for boudoir and nude shoots, and i am humbled by the trust they are placing upon my work to capture them at their most vulnerable and raw states. i figured that trust deserves a little quid pro quo.  =)

since i started with photography, i've always wanted to experiment with high key, playful nudes that focus on relationships rather than the physicality of the human body. now that i'm "moulded" by my second little one, i figured this was a good opportunity to try it out with my own family. taken first thing in the morning, i wanted the shoot to represent the lazy weekend mornings i love about family life. the playtime in bed, and quiet conversations, and the serene happiness of just being in each other's company without the worries of work or school.

these are my "entering third trimester" maternity and family photos, as taken by myself and the H. will likely take another set a week or two before my estimated delivery date. this offbeat momma does enjoy rockin' the boat. let me know what you think about it. nudes (whether implied or not) have always been somewhat contentious. =)
