day 464 | may 15, 2011 | lim chu kang farm

about to run off for another busy run-around day, and just had to share one of our weekend experiences. when i found out about the lim chu kang farm area, i honestly didn't think there was enough space in little red dot singapore to squish farmlands in, but somehow, they managed to do it. =) in classic singapore style, everything is compact and industrial. wanted to give roo a flavor of 'kampong' stuff i grew up with. as soon as we stepped into the goat farm though, she ran back to the car covering her nose, and demanding that we leave as soon as possible because it's too smelly. this just egged me on further with the idea of sending her to the boondocks for a couple of months for survival training. hmm...

we gave her goat milk to drink after watching a couple of batches of goats getting milked by mechanical pumps, and she drank it quite happily. ignorance is bliss, and all that. =)

a huge fan of mushrooms, i requested for a stop at the mushroom farm. unfortunately, it's at the tail-end of the farming season and much of the yummy 'shrooms have already been harvested. it's quite fascinating to find out that each batch of mushroom takes at least 8 months to grow full-size. knowing the process in which they are grown, and all the work that goes into it somehow makes them even yummier in my head. we went a little wild with their fresh produce market, and we were eating mushrooms for 4 days in a row. not looking to have another one soon. too much of a good thing...

i do want to go back to explore more, and noticed some photoshoot friendly spaces which i would have loved to stop and snap if the little ones weren't already so hungry and pooped out. =)
