party time! we hosted roo and red's joint party at home so we wouldn't have to worry about rain or haze levels. we would have loved to do it at the same place like last year, but figured that an indoor party might be able to serve the theme better.

day 637 | september 15, 2012 | inspired by wanderlust

this is the most complex party we've planned yet -- we were inspired, and we had a reasonable amount of time to turn inspiration into reality.

day 630 | september 8, 2012 | roo turns six

today is roo's sixth birthday. yesterday morning, we made a decision to postpone her birthday party as the whole family, including our lifesaver, is unwell and possibly contagious. i was apprehensive of explaining the situation to roo, knowing that she's been counting down to this day for a couple months now. she cut up the streamers for her party herself -- and she was so giddy about the idea of having all her friends together in one celebration.

for roo's birthday, we agreed that she would have to list out the three gifts she'd like to receive. we try not to drown her in gifts during her birthday because we want her to appreciate what she has, and to work for what she does want to have. i probably sound like an old record to roo whenever i talk about how fortunate she is, how there are many out there who go by with so little, how we mustn't buy things just because we can.

for my 29th birthday and STP's 2nd year anniversary as a registered business in Singapore, i wanted to do what i love and do it meaningfully, which is how i developed the idea for a photo marathon. the support for it has been such a huge gift which i hope will translate to a significant difference to several children's lives through worldvision's sponsor a child program. i'm so happy everything went well.
