day 648 | august 19, 2012 | saddle club

it was a multi-purpose trip -- i wanted to (1) try brunch at riders' cafe, (2) let the little ones ride the ponies, and (3) scout and get inspired for future shoots...

on brunch, the waiting time for riders' was just too long, so we settled for marmalade pantry (previously mimolette) just next door. this grown up was hungry, but the little ones were happy to play with the lounge chairs and sequester any unoccupied space within their reach.
as for getting a pony ride (which the saddle club is offering every saturdays and sundays, from 10am to 1pm for $10 per child), the ponies were on raya holiday while we were there -- so we made do with trying to read their expressions from the fence line.
on our third onjective, it was a productive scouting trip, which inspired me to try new things for my next shoots. it's also a great push to encourage earlier shoots when the light is much creamier -- and the images are just so naturally glowy that post-processing is rendered moot. we were blessed with golden light, and the saddle club is still among my favorite spaces.
once the kids warmed up to the idea of stepping on grass, it was fun walking after them as they followed their interest. i was pretty occupied, mommarazzing in the background, and trying not to trip over myself. red seemed to enjoy the outdoors, while roo threw some dramatics over wanting to be carried.
 beautiful horses, and beautiful sky...
red picked up a few fans. found her sitting on a tree stump, while she distractedly smiled and waved her hands like a queen. amused, i thought she was doing it for my benefit (or for the horses). turning around, i found at least 5 other people behind me, shooting her too. this one's a little diva...
just another beautiful day, out in the sun (which we're seeing less and less of these days). only one of our goals were met, but we had fun nonetheless. perhaps it's just more reason for us to keep coming back...
 happy weekend, folks!

Such beautiful pictures Steph! Very glowy, like you say :) Hope the girls manage to get that pony ride soon! We go there for brunch some Saturdays and my son loves to watch the kids taking rides but hasn't plucked up the courage to ride the pony himself yet.

Oh I agree! It's a beautiful place! Didn't know they allowed for pony rides; Poppy loves them! There's also Riders Cafe nearby; food's good and much cheaper :D AND it's a very pretty place too!

Thanks Unknown. I've shot there a couple of times before, and it is a beautiful place to shoot! ;)

Vera, I suspect my girls might choose to just watch the ponies as well, rather than ride them. Once weather evens out, will venture a trip with the family again. :)

Adora, Pony playdate? Yes, Rider's is in my hitlist. It's cheaper than Marmalade Pantry?!? Must check it out then. Grin.
