roo and layla. "old married couple" indeed. i was so happy to find a great friend for roo here in singapore (or maybe, mommy E found us, or did roo find layla?) whoever found who, we're just so happy. roo was even happier when i mentioned we were 'kidnapping' her friend with permission and going to the national museum for an island adventure.

these activities apply more to roo's age group (4-7yo) more than red's (terrible twos). we're back to helper-less days, and it's maddening trying to squeeze time here and there to get work done with these two hounding me for activities or for attention. "look at this, mommy!" "mommy, red spilled her drink on the couch again!" or simply just random wails that break an unusual silence.

rushed over from work and a fairly stressful meeting to bring the little ones over for some art museum play. i'm glad i found out about singapore art museum's "children's season" school holidays programme from mommy S last year. roo and i were eagerly anticipating it this year. so when the SMB mommies posted an open invitation, we definitely wanted to be there.

i told roo there was something special going on at the asian civilizations museum; so with some pushing (and shouting instructions while preparing baby bag), we managed to leave the house with a bleary eyed red. on the way to the train station, while looking out for touch-me-nots, we saw some mushrooms which popped up after the rain.

day 622 | june 9, 2012 | circle line stop: botanic gardens

it was a beautiful morning for a walk and a meet-up with a friend, so we carted ourselves to the circle line and stopped at botanic gardens MRT. we love this place for a number of reasons, including the huge botanic gardens, jacob ballas children's garden, and the pretty shops near the station.

continued from 'bishan park play'  blog post, we've recently discovered a water play area as well as a sand play area on the 'other' (farther) side of the park. bordered by marymount road, upper thomson road, ang mo kio avenue 1, and sing ming road is a slice of bishan park called 'pond gardens.'

our first time at the philatelic museum. i read that they were having a tintin exhibit, a dragon exhibit, and an open house, so packed roo along for an afternoon adventure, while red bonded with her daddy. i thought roo would relish having me all to herself -- but she kept on hypothesizing what red would be doing if she were there with us, punctuated with "i miss her"s. they are awfully sweet sometimes, and seeing the way they look out for each other makes me kind of wish i had a sister.

day 587 | june 2, 2012 | tangle at arts festival

we went to the singapore arts festival a couple of times because roo and red loved taking home the colorful stretchy string from polyglot's interactive tangle installation. we still have them lying around at home and roo uses it as a harness for red whenever they play horsie. eeks.
