Super Sunday! A brunch playdate/meet-up with friends from KL, gave us the perfect opportunity to go back to Tiong Bahru back in August. We're not often in this part of town -- though I do have a shortlist of places to check out, mostly because of Gingerbreadmum's posts, and Open Door Policy.
For this visit, we enjoyed brunch and coffee at 40 Hands, followed by a walking adventure towards Tiong Bahru playground, aka "that playground with a train"! I loved the flying foxes and the spinning wheel, both of which are not available in our beloved Bishan Park.
day 690 | october 11, 2013 | Il Lido
On the Martini Glass: Amuse Bouche of foamy Mushroom Cappuccino,
followed by Smoked Cheese Risotto and Truffle
|
This time around, the mood was much lighter. He had just gotten back from a two-week business trip in Geneva, and I was looking for therapy in the form of either orgasmic food, or massage. Food won out. Lucky for us, there were still Restaurant Week seats for Il Lido. Usually, it would be among the first restaurants to be fully booked.
Restaurant Week happens twice a year, every March and October, and is fast becoming a good reminder to make space to re-connect without the kids in tow. Our usual date is a late night movie, so it's good to mix it up once in a while. If you wish to catch some of the top Singapore restaurants at a deal, do watch out for their registration the month before. Last year, we've tried out Table at 7, and more recently, Taratata Bistrot and Stellar at 1-Altitude.
day 693 | Tokyo Adventures
GETTING AROUND:
Grab a local Japan Train Map and start orientating yourself on where you wish to go. The train network in Tokyo is the most compex I've ever had the pleasure of navigating, and it can be quite intimidating. One can opt to buy one-way trip tickets if you're going to linger in one or two places; but if you know you'll be going around a lot, it would be worthwhile to get a Tokyo Metro One-Day Open Ticket.
On to my Top Ten list, so far....
